       WHERE TENISHA'S PERFORMING/MEDIA MENTIONS

  • February 27th, 2010

    LOCAL 2 GLOBAL JUSTICE TEACH-IN

    TIME: 11:15-12:15PM

PANEL TITLE: Speak Loudly and Carry a Black Book

LOCATION: Arizona State University Tempe in COOR L1-10

PANEL DESCRIPTION: Ages 18+, COOR L1-10 - Speak Loudly and Carry a Black Book is a workshop/skill share that displays how oral interpretation can be utilized as an effective, applicable, and accessible, tool in transformative learning. Oral interpretation, also known as performance of literature, is an exciting narrative-based performance style that provides a platform for the invisible issues of our society to be made visible in an unobtrusive way. Transformative learning provides a pathway towards social/global change because participants can potentially transition from a position of indifference into a position of activism. By providing an overview of oral interpretation and transformative learning, and then displaying how both are being utilized in practice, participants will be provided the necessary tools to evoke change within their communities. - Tenisha Baca, See You Are Able
